The Wheelborrow

Lima, Perú. 2018

The exchange

What determines the value of a piece of art? Not a given price, but the agreement in the exchange between both parties. From an amount translated into money to an object desired by the other. The story is transforming while storing new information, criticism and thoughts every second. However, not everything that we can name as art enters our history. What is a primary factor for contemplating a work as a piece worthy of being history? its monetary value? The artist's trajectory? or maybe his death? Without a doubt, the technique and processual events within the gestation of a work are essential for its value. At present, do we do it to sell or to last in history? Do we contribute or cheat? This is a time in which the work moves, that collects and awakens new values within its continuous exhibition and criticism.
In the following project, an ad for sale of a metal wheelbarrow was found on the internet. The artist managed to exchange a painting for the object which was used for the next show.
