Grace Tume Lima, Perú. 28 August 1989
In my short career as an artist I have deepened and opted for self-management with the main goal of understanding the different contexts of art and the fundamental role it plays in everyday politics, highlighting issues that originate mainly in both physical and virtual urban spaces. Although the artistic proposals that I have been developing do not include an explicit political activism, I can say with certainty that dealing with micro-policy issues cannot be proposals unrelated to an inquiry and many times social research that ends up being resolved through the plastic and exploration of senses. The fact that I become from a middle class family with diversity in all these aspects let me learn more about real ways of inhabit a territory. My family has become one of my principal references and starting with personal experience is how I can explore and displace feelings and social conditions. These micropolitics that have been covered with the art experiences are the perfect reason for the gestation of new ways of creative process. It is important within my proposal as an artist to influence the ability we have to represent study and demonstrate from an authentic and peculiar perspective situations or social problems in order not to lose the link with the citizenship that many times the traditional art markets have was moving away I strongly believe in the abilities of art and the artist’s performances to propose awareness, different forms of progress and mainly to encourage the desire for a common good, therefore, for one’s own well-being.
